CITIZENSHIP

Citizenship education at Cranbury College seeks to provide students with knowledge, skills and the understanding to enable them to take their place in society as responsible, well-rounded and well-informed active citizens.

The intention of Citizenship Studies at Cranbury College is for our pupils to acquire a sound knowledge and understanding of how the United Kingdom is governed, its political system and how citizens participate actively in its democratic systems of government. We also strive to develop a sound knowledge and understanding of the role of law and the justice system in our society and how laws are shaped and enforced.

Assessment

Due to the transient nature of our students, they will be assessed on engagement and can achieve a range of AQA unit awards.

KS4 students can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE). At Cranbury, we have thought carefully about how we weave DofE into the KS4 curriculum; this ensures that our students, who are with us longer term, can have the same opportunities as their peers who attend mainstream education.
