At Horizons, we take our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people very seriously.

Everyone who comes into contact with children and families through their work has a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, including those who do not have a specific role in child protection.

Prior to employment, all staff (paid or voluntary) are DBS checked for their suitability to work with children and young people. DBS has replaced CRB. For more information on the Disclosure Barring Service, click here.

Once the member of staff joins our school, they receive Safeguarding Training from one of our Child Protection Team. This training includes an overview of responsibilities, signs and symptoms as well as advice and guidance about what to do in the event of a concern.  Safeguarding training is repeated annually online or in person.

Other visitors to all Horizons sites are expected to sign in at reception and to read our Safeguarding Leaflet (see below), which is given to them on arrival. They are then supervised whilst on site.
