Regular attendance supports children and young people to make progress, achieve and get the most from their learning at Horizons.
Parents and carers should use the ClassCharts App to notify us before 8.50am on each day their child is absent. If a young person does not register for a morning session, and we have not received an explanation for their absence, we will contact their parent or carer.
If you do not have access to the ClassCharts App, please call the school office on 0118 937 6847 or email horizons@maidenerleghtrust.org. The email should be sent from the email address registered for the parent or carer on our Management Information System.
Medical and dental appointments should be made outside the school day wherever possible. Where an appointment during the school day is necessary, an email or signed letter from the parent or carer is required. Young people must also sign in and out at reception.
Young people may only leave the site with permission from their parent or carer and Horizons. If a young person needs to leave during the day, they should report to the school office to sign out. They will need a note from their parent or carer giving the day, date and time they need to leave and a brief explanation. If they do not have a note, we will make every effort to contact their parent or carer. If we are unable to make contact, we cannot allow the young person to leave.
Regular attendance is an important part of making progress at Horizons. We recognise that there may be exceptional circumstances when a parent or carer needs to request leave during term time.
Further information can be found in our Attendance Policy on the Key Policies page.
