Horizons provides an ambitious, varied and purposeful programme of learning, combining the National Curriculum with vocational learning, personal development and enrichment.

Our curriculum is designed to give children and young people engaging and positive learning experiences that support both their educational and personal development. We place each young person at the centre, recognising their individual strengths, interests, aspirations and next steps.

Our young people follow personalised programmes of study that combine National Curriculum learning with their individual interests, aspirations and next steps.

These programmes promote:

• Independent thinking, including the ability to question, explore ideas and develop reasoned arguments.
• Positive engagement with learning and the development of practical and physical skills.
• The knowledge, understanding and personal and social skills young people need to thrive in a changing world.
• Preparation for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in modern Britain, including an understanding of the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, tolerance and respect.
• Preparation for each young person’s next steps, including further education, training, apprenticeships, employment or, where appropriate, a return to mainstream education, while developing the skills and attitudes for lifelong learning.

We believe every child and young person has the right to a great education. At Horizons, learning is designed to help children and young people discover what they are good at, make meaningful progress, achieve qualifications and prepare for what comes next.

Personal Development

Personal Development is delivered based on what our students need. Our flexible and student-centred approach means that the curriculum is shaped by the issues that are most prevalent to the students at that time and is often delivered by subject specialist agencies as the knowledge of Cranbury students far exceeds that of their chronological age or peer group.
